A new bench-scale laboratory model roller press has been developed by Maxton, designed specifically for research and small laboratory projects. Model YS170, small briquetter (compactor) can provide conclusive briquetting (compaction) tests on a variety of materials with samples as small as 0.5-1kg.
Roll easily removable for quick setup changes, cleaning and sterilization. An integrated mixing system accommodates preparation of small batches with binders or other additives, then deposits the mixed material directly into a screw feeder which delivers a precise flow to the compacting rolls.
Vertically paired compacting rolls measure 175mm in diameter x 30mm wide and apply max. roll force of 110 kN/cm, Throughput rates of up to 80 liters per hour are possible.
Small batches of product using high value ingredients are not economical or practical to run on full scale production roll presses. Similarly, research and development that requires a higher output is costly if existing line equipment needs to be repurposed for only small batch runs. A dedicated pilot roll press that’s also capable of continuous small-batch production provides a lower cost alternative whilst delivering excellent results.
The pilot briquetter (compactor) has been designed to offer the flexibility of a small device for product design and evaluation together with the capacity to operate as a small batch production briqueter (compactor).
To set up a pilot plant by using this roll briquetter (compactor) is setting up a small industrial system for analysis of the system’s behavior to aid the design of larger facilities. It can also be used to train staff to run a production plant. This pilot plant is built in different sizes and is smaller than production plants.
Capacity of the pilot press can reach 1m3/h.
